Booked for Fun: A Story-Filled Literacy Week! 📚✨

Writer: Wong AngelWong Angel

Last week, our PYP students celebrated Literacy Week with a series of exciting activities that fostered a love for reading, writing, and storytelling. 📚✨

We kicked off the week with Book Exchange Day on Monday, where students brought books from home to trade with their classmates. This activity encouraged them to explore new stories and genres while sharing their love for reading. 📖🔄

On Tuesday, we held the Book Character Parade, where students dressed up as their favorite book characters. It was wonderful to see their creativity and enthusiasm as they brought stories to life through their costumes and presentations. 🎭📚

Wednesday was Book Review Café Day, where students shared their thoughts on books they had read in a relaxed, café-style setting. ☕📖 They discussed their favorite stories, recommended books to peers, and practiced expressing their opinions about literature.

On Thursday, we had Buddy Reading Day, where students paired up across grade levels to read together. This activity fostered collaboration, mentorship, and a shared love for storytelling. 👧👦📚

We wrapped up the week with Book Poster Day on Friday, where students designed creative posters to promote their favorite books. Through illustrations and summaries, they showcased why these books were meaningful to them and encouraged others to read them. 🎨📖

Literacy Week was a fantastic experience for our students, helping them develop a deeper appreciation for books while making learning interactive and fun. A big thank you to all the teachers, students, and parents for making this event a success! 🙌💖📚
